The project was planned as a school play area for the students of New England Jewish Academy. Spring playgrounds provided a varied equipment solution that combines physical play, climbing, sliding, swinging, and pretend play in one clear playground setting. The castle-inspired structure serves as the main feature of the space, while the smaller play unit creates an additional activity area for younger users.
Playground Equipment for a School in New England
This playground project was created for New England Jewish Academy in West Hartford, Connecticut, in collaboration with the distributor Hertz Furniture.
The space brings together a blue-and-cream castle-themed play structure, a separate unit for younger children, slides, swings, a bird’s nest swing, a low climbing feature, a fire truck element, and a spring rider. As part of the client’s request, the school logo was engraved into the equipment, adding a tailored detail that reflects the identity of the school.

About the Project and the Process
Highlights of the Project
The distinctive element in this project is the integration of the school emblem directly into the play equipment through custom engraving. This creates a direct visual link between the playground and the educational setting.
The playground also stands out through its combination of different play experiences: a prominent castle structure, a younger-child unit, swings, a bird’s nest swing, a fire truck element, a low climbing feature, and a spring rider.
The client requested a playground for the school that would include a broad selection of play activities for students. The brief included central play equipment, a play unit for younger children, swings, and imaginative play elements.
Another important requirement was the custom engraving of the New England Jewish Academy emblem on the equipment, giving the playground a more personal and site-specific character.
The design concept is based on a clear, friendly, and recognizable playground character. The castle-style structure in blue and cream creates the main visual anchor of the space, while the younger-child play unit adds a softer play zone alongside it.
The engraved school emblem adds a custom layer to the design and helps connect the play area to the school’s identity and daily environment.
