Inclusive Play

Everyone plays together

At Spring Playgrounds, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to play, explore, and grow – regardless of their physical, sensory, or cognitive abilities.

We design inclusive play environments that welcome all children and support shared experiences with siblings, friends, and caregivers.

By offering a wide range of accessible products and thoughtful design approaches, we create playgrounds that are not only fun – but also equal, respectful, and truly inclusive.

All Spring Playgrounds products meet the latest European standards for accessibility and safety.

Play Without Barriers

At Spring Playgrounds, we believe that every child – and every caregiver – deserves an equal opportunity to play, connect, and thrive.

That’s why accessibility and inclusion are built into the heart of our playground design.

What Makes Our Equipment Inclusive?

  • Bridges and Ramps for All: We believe that every person — child or adult who requires accessible solutions — deserves full and equal access to the play environment. That’s why we integrate accessible pathways, bridges, and ramps that enable smooth and comfortable movement throughout the playground.

  • Sensory-Rich Play Elements: Interactive panels engage touch, sight, and hearing, creating enjoyable and meaningful experiences for children and visitors with varying needs.

  • Visual Support Features: Braille and customizable colour schemes support children and guests with visual or sensory sensitivities, helping to create a more intuitive and welcoming environment.

  • Shared Play Spaces:Our playgrounds bring everyone together. Children and accompanying visitors of all abilities share the same space, encouraging inclusion, cooperation, and a sense of belonging.

The Big Accessibility Survey – Listening to Those Who Need It

We conducted a comprehensive survey on the usability and importance of accessible elements in playgrounds. Here’s a glimpse of the responses we received:

  • "A child with a disability who can reach the highest level in the park like any other child - that is a feeling of victory and equality."
Rachel, 20 years old, living with lower body paralysis and sister to a special needs child who also uses a wheelchair

  • "It's important to us that siblings play together. It’s essential that things are accessible to both."
Abigail, mother of a child with autism and additional children without disabilities

  • "Including children with special needs in playgrounds with other children simply allows them to be there with a lot of patience and love."
Ella, Assistive Technology Teacher for Children with Physical Disabilities

  • "I see a sense of belonging when the playground is accessible to those with disabilities, so my son feels like he is part of all the children playing there."
Father of a child with a disability

  • "My dream is to have accessible playgrounds where a parent can take their child."
    Michal, wheelchair user

  • "Children with hearing impairments feel vibrations, and experiencing this through self-exploration is very significant."
    Esther, Occupational Therapist
  • "The fact that the playground is adapted for wheelchairs is very significant. Children who need to work through all their senses can benefit from it."
Kindergarten teacher, special education professional, and mother of a child with a disability

  • "Inclusion gives a sense of belonging and not being different, when everyone goes up to the playground together, rather than having something separate and special."
    Esther, Occupational Therapist

  • "Including children should be taken for granted. Everyone can learn from each other."
Rachel, 20 years old, living with lower body paralysis and sister to a special needs child who also uses a wheelchair

Supporting Caregivers and Visitors

Inclusive play is not only for children – it’s for everyone involved.

At Spring Playgrounds, we design playgrounds with the needs of caregivers in mind. Whether a parent, sibling, therapist, or companion with disabilities, every visitor deserves a space that is welcoming, accessible, and easy to navigate.

We also recognize the value of shared play experiences. When children of all abilities play together, they develop empathy, respect, and a deeper appreciation for diversity.
